The waste authority for Worcestershire is Herefordshire and Worcestershire joint waste strategy. Back in 2015 Worcestershire County Council recycled 42.7% of its waste, landfilled 48.3%, and incinerated 7.5%.
By 2023 incineration had increased by 35.4 percentage points to 42.9%.
Recycling increased over the same period by 0.3 percentage points to 43%. In 2023 12.4% of waste was landfilled.
There are currently 10 years left on a contract with Veolia/Viridor/ Indaver/ Cory. The total contract value is £454m.
