Back in 2015 Warwickshire County Council recycled 54.2% of its waste, landfilled 13.7%, and incinerated 30.6%.
By 2023 incineration had increased by 10 percentage points to 40.6%.
Recycling decreased over the same period by 8.5 percentage points to 45.7%. In 2023 9.2% of waste was landfilled.
The contract has a clawback arrangement: “The W2R Four Ashes agreement with Staffordshire County Council does have a sharing mechanism which includes PFI credits, energy sold, metals recycled and a share of third party waste taken into the plant share of third party waste taken into the plant.”
