Back in 2015 Bradford City MDC (MBC) recycled 51.2% of its waste, landfilled 19.2%, and incinerated 29.6%.
By 2023 incineration had increased by 31.1 percentage points to 60.7%.
Recycling decreased over the same period by 12.8 percentage points to 38.4%. In 2023 0.8% of waste was landfilled.
There are currently 8 years left on a contract with Associated Waste Management Limited. The total contract value is £18m. The contract has a clawback arrangement: “Yes, gainshare based on achieving thresholds in relation to energy production and sale of recyclable materials removed during processing.”
