Recycling has decreased 19.4 percentage points in the waste authority for Middlesbrough

Back in 2015 Middlesbrough Borough Council recycled 43.5% of its waste, landfilled 5.2%, and incinerated 51.2%.

By 2023 incineration had increased by 14.1 percentage points to 65.3%.

Recycling decreased over the same period by 19.4 percentage points to 24.2%. In 2023 8.8% of waste was landfilled.

The waste authority for Middlesbrough is Tees Valley Joint Waste Management Strategy. There are currently #VALUE! years left on a contract with Suez.
