Back in 2015 South Gloucestershire Council recycled 49.7% of its waste, landfilled 14.7%, and incinerated 32.9%.
By 2023 incineration had increased by 3.3 percentage points to 36.2%.
Recycling increased over the same period by 10.4 percentage points to 60.1%. In 2023 3.4% of waste was landfilled.
The waste authority for South Gloucestershire is West of England Waste Partnership. There are currently 6 years left on a contract with Suez/Viridor. The total contract value is £50m.
