Back in 2015 East Sussex County Council recycled 42.4% of its waste,
landfilled 2.9%, and incinerated 54.6%.
By 2023 incineration had increased by 2.1 percentage points to
56.7%.
Recycling decreased over the same period by 1.7
percentage points to 40.7%. In 2023 0.7% of waste was landfilled.
There are currently 9 years left on a contract with Veolia. The total
contract value is £1,271m. The contract has a clawback arrangement: “NA”
