Recycling has decreased 11.2 percentage points in the waste authority for Southend-on-Sea

Back in 2015 Southend-on-Sea Borough Council recycled 52.9% of its waste, landfilled 46.6%, and incinerated 0.4%.

By 2023 incineration had increased by 14.1 percentage points to 14.5%.

Recycling decreased over the same period by 11.2 percentage points to 41.7%. In 2023 43.3% of waste was landfilled.

There are currently 4 years left on a contract with Suez.
