Back in 2015 Kent County Council recycled 47.7% of its waste, landfilled 11.1%, and incinerated 41.2%.
By 2023 incineration had increased by 14.5 percentage points to 55.8%.
Recycling decreased over the same period by 6.1 percentage points to 41.6%. In 2023 0.6% of waste was landfilled.
There are currently 6 years left on a contract with Kent Enviropower Limited (KEL), Allington Waste Company Limited (AWL) Countrystyle Recycling Ltd (CRL). The total contract value is £792m.
