Back in 2015 Bristol City Council recycled 45.2% of its waste, landfilled 29.2%, and incinerated 23%.
By 2023 incineration had increased by 28.2 percentage points to 51.2%.
Recycling increased over the same period by 2 percentage points to 47.3%. In 2023 1.5% of waste was landfilled.
The waste authority for Bristol is West of England Waste Partnership. There are currently 6 years left on a contract with Suez/Viridor. The total contract value is £50m.
