Back in 2015 Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames recycled 47.8% of its waste, landfilled 15.8%, and incinerated 36.5%.
By 2023 incineration had increased by 17.2 percentage points to 53.6%.
Recycling decreased over the same period by 1.8 percentage points to 46%. In 2023 0.1% of waste was landfilled.
The waste authority for Kingston upon Thames is South London Waste Partnership. There are currently 19 years left on a contract with Viridor. The total contract value is £990m.
