Back in 2014 City of Edinburgh recycled 37.2% of its waste, landfilled 56.9%, and incinerated 2.5%.
By 2022 incineration had increased by 41.7 percentage points to 44.2%.
Recycling decreased over the same period by 0.2 percentage points to 37%. In 2022 2.8% of waste was landfilled.
There are currently 20 years left on a contract with FCC. The total contract value is £356.452m. The contract has a clawback arrangement: “There is a benefit sharing arrangement with a Third-Party Income (TPI) sharing mechanism between FCC and the City of Edinburgh Council and Midlothian Council.”
