By 2023 incineration had increased by 0 percentage points to 54.2%.
Recycling decreased over the same period by 2.7 percentage points to 37.9%. In 2023 5.8% of waste was landfilled.
There are currently 6 years left on a contract with Veolia. The total contract value is £1998m. The contract has a clawback arrangement: “An income share agreement (50/50) for electricity produced for the National Grid between the Authority and Veolia applies from 2024”
