Recycling has decreased 11.7 percentage points in the waste authority for Medway

Back in 2015 Medway Borough Council recycled 50.4% of its waste, landfilled 13.8%, and incinerated 29.6%.

By 2023 incineration had increased by 30.1 percentage points to 59.7%.

Recycling decreased over the same period by 11.7 percentage points to 38.7%. In 2023 0.1% of waste was landfilled.

There are currently 16 years left on a contract with Veolia. The total contract value is £197m.
