Back in 2015 Thurrock Council recycled 41.8% of its waste, landfilled
18.8%, and incinerated 39.4%.
By 2023 incineration had increased by 31.5 percentage points to
70.9%.
Recycling decreased over the same period by 12.8
percentage points to 29%. In 2023 0.1% of waste was landfilled.
There are currently 10 years left on a contract with Cory Environmental
Limited. The total contract value is £105m.
