Back in 2015 Herefordshire Council recycled 42.3% of its waste, landfilled 56.9%, and incinerated 0.8%.
By 2023 incineration had increased by 60 percentage points to 60.8%.
Recycling decreased over the same period by 3.7 percentage points to 38.6%. In 2023 0.6% of waste was landfilled.
The waste authority for Herefordshire is Herefordshire and Worcestershire joint waste strategy. There are currently 10 years left on a contract with Veolia/Viridor/ Indaver/ Cory. The total contract value is £454m.
