Recycling has increased 11.8 percentage points in the waste authority for Vale of Glamorgan

Back in 2015 Vale of Glamorgan recycled 56% of its waste, landfilled 29.4%, and incinerated 13.1%.

By 2023 incineration had increased by 18.7 percentage points to 31.8%.

Recycling increased over the same period by 11.8 percentage points to 67.8%. In 2023 0.3% of waste was landfilled.

There are currently 17 years left on a contract with Viridor. The total contract value is £69m. The contract has a clawback arrangement: “The contract contains gain share arrangements between the council and the contractor but the details of the agreements are exempt under Section 43(2)Prejudice to Commercial Interests.”
