Back in 2015 North Yorkshire County Council recycled 45.8% of its waste, landfilled 44.4%, and incinerated 8.6%.
By 2023 incineration had increased by 43.6 percentage points to 52.2%.
Recycling decreased over the same period by 4.1 percentage points to 41.7%. In 2023 3.8% of waste was landfilled.
There are currently 19 years left on a contract with Allerton Waste Recovery Park SPV. The total contract value is £1400m. The contract has a clawback arrangement: “Excess revenue - see notes”
