Back in 2015 Bedford recycled 36.8% of its waste, landfilled 38.7%, and
incinerated 17%.
By 2023 incineration had increased by 36.1 percentage points to
53.1%.
Recycling decreased over the same period by 2.5
percentage points to 34.4%. In 2023 12.3% of waste was landfilled.
There are currently 3 years left on a contract with Veolia. The total
contract value is £39.822m.
