Back in 2015 Stoke-on-Trent City Council recycled 34.2% of its waste, landfilled 10.1%, and incinerated 55.7%.
By 2023 incineration had increased by 6.3 percentage points to 62%.
Recycling decreased over the same period by 2.8 percentage points to 31.4%. In 2023 1.1% of waste was landfilled.
There are currently 1 years left on a contract with Hanford Waste Services. The total contract value is £60m. The contract has a clawback arrangement: “We are not able to provide this information. The operational contract is currently under review and this information is currently commercially sensitive.”
