The waste authority for Hounslow is West London Waste Authority. Back in 2015 West London Waste Authority recycled 35.8% of its waste, landfilled 40.9%, and incinerated 22.9%.
By 2023 incineration had increased by 43.4 percentage points to 66.3%.
Recycling decreased over the same period by 3.7 percentage points to 32%. In 2023 0.2% of waste was landfilled.
There are currently 17 years left on a contract with WLWA processes waste through Energy from Waste via two separate contracts through Suez and Viridor Waste Management.. The total contract value is £2019m.
