Back in 2015 Bath and North East Somerset Council recycled 53% of its waste, landfilled 19.6%, and incinerated 18.4%.
By 2023 incineration had increased by 18.8 percentage points to 37.2%.
Recycling increased over the same period by 5.3 percentage points to 58.3%. In 2023 4.4% of waste was landfilled.
The waste authority for Bath and North East Somerset is West of England Waste Partnership. There are currently 6 years left on a contract with Suez/Viridor. The total contract value is £50m.
